Oracle BI EE 10.1.3.3/2 – InstanceConfig.xml Parameters

Posted by Venkatakrishnan J on November 27, 2007

I have been thinking for quite some time to have a document list containing all the InstanceConfig.xml parameters. Well, i have started the compilation and i will keep updating them as and when i find some new ones. The current list looks like the one below. Do let me know if you come across any new parameters so that i can add them to the list here. Your thoughts/comments are welcome.

List of Parameters – You can download the file here

Update: Thanks to Bryan. All the list of parameters are available from within the BI Management Packs. You can download the list provided by Bryan here

Update2: Thanks to Renga for sharing this. Another wonderful document which details all the parameters and their corresponding place of usage. You can get that here

The new BI Management Pack for Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control lets you view all InstanceConfig.xml parameters. I’ll send you a screen grab. Feel free to post it if you like. This is found under the configuration page. You can track tracks to configuration and compare the configuration of two different presentation servers (e.g., test and prod). The data sheet for the new management pack is here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/pdf/ds_bi_mgmt_pack.pdf

Well done Venkat, I think these cover all the ones I have.

Another useful list would be all the available variables that come as standard, eg user.id, and their scope of use.

    Venkat,

Thanks for the awesome resource. I have a basic question on how to update the instanceconfig.xml file with some of the parameters I would like to have for e.g. I want to display 2000 values in the dashboard prompt dropdown list, and also I want to configure the gauge to display only 1 gauge per canvas, or read 1 row only.

    Hi,
Is there a maximum number of records that can be selected in a multi-select dashboard prompt? Because I select about 40 choices and when i press go it doesn’t bring them. If there is a limit can I change it and how?

    Regards
